On what side of the car do you fill your tank?

October 17, 2007 10:36 by sarnil

There is this brilliant post on one of my favourite blogs, Autoblog.com that discussess this very question.

My Skyline's fuel filler door (as the  Autoblog post refers it), is on the drivers side. Whereas one of the Honda's in my wife's company fleet has it on the passenger. Very confusing if you happen to drive different cars everytime you need to fill up!

I have no idea why this situation has developed.

The solution is simple: fuel doors should be on the same side as the driver.

This would solve another serious problems: confusion at service stations would cease, because everyone would continue to follow the road rules about which side of the pump they pull up at.
